Two witnesses canoeing at a nearby resort captured video of the an experimental aircraft, the Thunderbird, as Cmd. Ezra Stone, during a miraculous rescue mission of USN Ens. Albert VII and Ens. Quillroy.

Exclusive rights for the video were obtained by so-called paranormal journalist, Chip Marcus. Most of the public, outside of the paranormal community, dismissed the incident as a hoax.

While it is regrettable that the incident was seen by the public, Stone’s discovery of the aircraft’s ability to fly underwater advanced its potential in future missions and secured long-term funding for the Thunderbird Project, albeit, under its new name, The Albatross Project.
